Terre di Sacra’s beaches: Macchiatonda and La Dogana
Beaches at Terre di Sacra are some of the most beautiful in Capalbio. A strip of golden sand stretches from the thick Mediterranean maquis to crystal-clear waters. Why wait any longer to come and see them?
Capalbio is an amazing medieval village and it is known worldwide for its golden sand beaches. 12 kilometers of seashore between Ansedonia and the borders with the Lazio region. Here you can find the Capalbio beaches awarded ‘5 Sails’ by Legambiente once again in 2019.
Beaches at Terra di Sacra stretch for about 10 kilometers from the Macchiatonda beach to La Dogana. Villas’ guests have a direct access to the beaches at Terre di Sacra and they can also reach them on board a golf cart. Guests at cottages and small cottages can reach the seashore following dirt roads and paths within the property.
Macchiatonda, Capalbio inhabitants’ beach
One of the cleanest and tidiest free beaches you can imagine, with public toilets and paid showers.
You can reach it by driving the coastal road and then following the signs for about one kilometer until the parking area by the seaside. During summer, especially at weekends, we suggest leaving your car at the car park along the SP coastal road and take the free shuttle bus to Macchiatonda.
Dark sand, crystal-clear waters, untouched and wild beach. When the weather is fine, in winter too, it takes about a 20-minute walk to get to Lake of Burano and Buranaccio Tower and the walk is pretty enjoyable.
You can go to Macchiatonda’s beach bringing with you your own sun umbrellas, sunbeds and deck chairs. However, especially if you have young children or you just want to take it easier, we suggest trying Club La Macchia, a private club open to members only.
This private club is a charming beach club, equipped with all amenities. At La Macchia Club, not only you can find all the equipment you need to fully enjoy a day at the beach but also bar services, a restaurant and an area for private events.
La Macchia Club’s amazing terrace overlooking the sea is the perfect place where you can drink your cocktail while watching the sunset after a lovely day on the seaside.
La Dogana di Capalbio: beach, restaurant and glamping sites too!
Dogana’s beach is south of Terre di Sacra, at about seven kilometers from Lake of Burano. The free beach is very long both towards Macchiatonda and towards Lazio. Dunes of soft sand gently slope down to the crystal-clear sea and the scented Mediterranean maquis.
At Dogana you will find La Dogana di Capalbio beach club equipped with everything you need to spend a relaxing day at the seaside. Children will be glad to spend time at the playground designed for them while adults will read newspapers and magazines at the reading area in front of the sea. The restaurant is open for hungry and thirsty people from breakfast to late at night with its enchanting view over the sea waves.
At a very short distance, Capalbio’s campsite will welcome you with the new glamping site, a luxury campsite for people willing to experience a holiday immersed in nature although not doing without all amenities. The glamping site is equipped with tents having all the amenities you may need, just a few meters from the seaside. Glamping is a new experience for travelers longing for a nature holiday in Capalbio.
